This Privacy Policy explains how Giggle Republic (“we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use the WordSpring mobile application and related website (the “Service”).
WordSpring is an English vocabulary learning product from Giggle Republic. Learner accounts are created per device using an anonymous install identifier. We aim to collect only what is needed to deliver learning, sync progress, show ads (when enabled), and improve the Service.

2. Information we collect
Depending on how you use the Service, we may process:
- Account & profile data — a per-install app UUID, optional display name, and related profile settings (for example daily learning goal or theme preference).
- Learning data — vocabulary progress, review history, streaks, XP, achievements, bookmarks, personal dictionary collections, game results, and similar activity needed to power spaced repetition and personalisation.
- Device & technical data — app version, device type/OS, approximate timezone, network connectivity state, and diagnostic information such as crash or error logs when available.
- Local device storage — preferences and temporary app data stored on your device to keep the experience snappy between sessions.
- Advertising data — when ads are enabled, advertising partners may collect advertising identifiers and interaction data as described in Section 5.
We do not require an email address or password for standard learner use. Staff/admin accounts used to operate the platform are separate from learner installs.
3. How we use information
We use information to:
- Create and maintain your learner profile and synchronise progress across sessions
- Deliver lessons, reviews, games, achievements, and recommendations
- Remember preferences and keep sessions feeling quick
- Operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the Service
- Show ads (when enabled) and measure basic ad performance
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your learning data for unrelated products.
4. Legal bases (where applicable)
If you are in a region that requires a legal basis for processing (such as the EEA/UK), we rely on:
- Performance of a contract — providing the learning Service you request
- Legitimate interests — securing and improving the Service
- Consent — where required for certain advertising or analytics technologies
- Legal obligation — when we must retain or disclose information by law
5. Advertising
WordSpring may display ads through Google AdMob (or similar partners). These partners may use cookies, advertising IDs, or similar technologies to serve and measure ads. Their processing is governed by their own policies, including Google’s Privacy Policy and AdMob help guidance.
You can often limit ad personalisation through your device settings (for example Google advertising settings on Android). If ads are disabled for your account in WordSpring settings where available, we will not request ad placements for that profile.
6. How we share information
We may share information with:
- Service providers — hosting, databases, queues, crash reporting, and similar infrastructure needed to run WordSpring
- Advertising partners — as described in Section 5
- Authorities — when required by law or to protect rights, safety, or the integrity of the Service
7. Data retention
We retain account and learning data while your account is active. If you delete your account, we soft-delete and anonymise identifying fields (including releasing the install UUID) so the account can no longer be used. Related learning records may be retained for a limited period for security, abuse prevention, backups, or legal requirements, then removed or further anonymised according to our retention practices.
8. Your choices and rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete personal data.
- Update profile — you can edit your display name in the app Profile screen.
- Delete account — use Profile → Delete account in the app. This removes your WordSpring learner account and clears local cached learner data on the device, then starts a fresh empty profile if you continue using the app.
- Contact us — email Email us for privacy requests we cannot complete in-app.
9. Children’s privacy
WordSpring is intended for general language learning and is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under that age. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
10. International transfers
We may process and store information on servers or with providers located outside your country. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers.
11. Security
We use technical and organisational measures designed to protect information, including encrypted transport (HTTPS) in production, access controls for administrative tools, and least-privilege practices for systems that handle learner data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; please use the Service with that understanding.
12. Third-party links and stores
The Service may link to third parties such as the Google Play Store. Their privacy practices are their own. Review their policies before providing information to them.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will change the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and, when changes are material, provide additional notice in the app or on our website where appropriate. Continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised policy.
